From birth, babies explore their new world through their eyes. Healthy eyes and the best possible vision are crucial for their development. Vision issues in infants can easily go undetected and cause developmental delays. It is essential to detect conditions early with a vision exam—even for babies!
Dr. Lambart is an InfantSEE® provider, a public health program managed by Optometry Cares® – The AOA Foundation. This program ensures that eye and vision care are integral parts of infant wellness to improve a child’s quality of life. Participating optometrists provide a comprehensive eye assessment for infants between 6 and 12 months of age, free of charge, regardless of family income or insurance coverage. Don’t wait until you suspect your infant may have vision issues—call today and get a head start on your child’s eye care.

As you get older, around age 40, it may become tougher to focus on nearby objects due to a condition called presbyopia. This natural part of aging usually becomes noticeable in your early to mid-40s and continues to worsen until around age 65. Presbyopia often introduces people to multifocal lenses (bifocals). Based on your exam, your doctor will recommend the best lenses for you.
Later in life, cataracts might become a concern. A cataract is a dense, cloudy area that forms in the lens of the eye, developing slowly and eventually interfering with your vision. Over half of people in the United States have cataracts or have undergone cataract surgery by the time they are 80 years old. Cataracts are surgically removed in a simple, one-day procedure but require several follow-up visits before you receive a final prescription for new glasses. Southwest Vision Center works closely with local ophthalmologists to provide a caring and informative experience for your cataract needs.
